Film Industry's Tell-all-book
September 7th 2006 03:04
A new book by screenwriter of “Basic Instinct”, “Flashdance” and “Showgirls”, Joe Eszterhas has wrote an adaptation of the big screen the stars won’t ever want to read. This tell-all book describes the behaviours of such leading actors and actresses as Sharon Stone, Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro and Val Kilmer on-set that’s sure to create some controversy. The crew working on these films lashed out at the screen stars (especially Stone) in such a way a feral cat would be proud of.
This includes the crew being so aggravated by Sharon Stone they "relieved themselves into a bathtub before Sharon got into it for her scene." (…!)
As for Kilmer and De Niro, the book tells they were either the silent type or just plain stupid. De Niro is noted for a wide array of works spanning the drama and comedic realms but still “couldn't even say two words on his own. He'd sit there, not speaking - woefully, miserably, pathetically lost without the words of a script." Kilmer on the other hand was treated like he was misunderstood, or worse, just a tool. “Val Kilmer is an imbecile. Asked by the Academy to nominate the three best film moments of the century, Kilmer nominated three of his movies. One of them was Batman Forever.”
Michael Douglas reviewed in “You, Me and Dupree” elsewhere on this site gets a serve as being plain childish and arrogant. To his portrayal of Detective Nick Curran in “Basic Instinct” he supposedly whines (Sharon) 'one-ups me at every turn.' And furthermore was critical of why he didn’t get to be the star.
I raise my eyebrows at this low-key affair and hope that the book is just a fictitious ‘smash and grab’ money-job. But, stars will be stars and working as the crew on a film is well documented to be a long and tedious routine…

Though the pissing in Sharon Stones bathtub before her scene is a bit off.
